The membership of the Association consists of the following:
Full membership: Open to all qualified Urological Surgeon, registered by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, and practicing urology.
(a) Any trainee in Urology (Senior Resident) under a Consultant urologist.
(b) Clinicians whose duties are related to and complementary to urological practice e.g. Radiologists, Oncologists, Pathologists, Plastic Surgeons, General Surgeons, Anaesthetists. Associate members have no voting right and shall pay only 50% of the annual dues. Honorary membership: Honorary membership may be conferred on anyone who has done special service or made outstanding contributions to urology. Honorary member have no voting right and shall not be expected to pay annual dues.
Senior Active Members: Qualified Urologists who have been members of NAUS and who have attained the age of 70 (seventy) years.
Enrolment for membership:
(a) A person qualified for full membership shall be sponsored by two financial members of the Association.
(b) Prospective Associate member shall be sponsored by one full member
(c) Every intending member shall on enrolment, pay an enrolment fee as prescribed at the time of enrolment, a fee which is subject to amendment from time to time.
Cessation of membership: Membership of the Association shall cease in any of the following circumstances: (a) Death
(b) Resignation in writing
(c) Non-attendance at 3 consecutive Annual General Conferences of NAUS without a reason acceptable to the Association.
(d) Non-payment of the annual dues and other prescribed levies for a cumulative period of 3 years without a reason acceptable to the Association.
(e) Expulsion for serious misdemeanor after a fair hearing. Such a decision must be approved by a two-third majority of votes of members in attendance in the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
(f) Removal of name from the Medical and Dental Council Register. Any member so de-listed ceases to be a member of NAUS, but can be reinstated on application only if his/her name has been re-entered into the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council Register.
